Johnny Rouse, a 1972 graduate of UCF (Florida Technological University), has been coaching wrestling for 37 years at the junior high, high school, and college level. A member of six Halls of Fame, Coach Rouse has been awarded the "Lifetime of Service to Wrestling" commendation by the National Wrestling Hall of Fame – Florida Chapter. During his coaching career Coach Rouse's teams have won over 400 team competitions, and Coach Rouse has twice been named "National Collegiate Wrestling Association Coach of the Year."
Since the 2001 revival of collegiate wrestling at UCF, Rouse's teams have won three national championships and finished in the top 8 every year. Since 2001, Rouse has played a pivotal role in bringing college wrestling back to the state of Florida.
